Parts of speech | Grammar | Teacher Lincoln HDR
It's quite important to recognize parts of speech. This helps you to analyze sentences and understand them. It also helps you to construct well-structured sentences.
Now, let´s define eight of the parts of speech:
1. Noun: This part of a speech refers to words that are used to name people, animals, places, things, or feeling/qualities/ideas, or events. Nouns are often used with an article (the, a , an), but not always. Proper nouns always start with a capital letter; common nouns do not. Nouns can be singular or plural, concrete or abstract. Types of nouns.
Examples of nouns and sample sentences:
The table is red.
The Dominican Republic is beautiful.
My mother loves dogs.
2. Pronoun: It is a word which functions as a replacement for a noun. Some examples of pronouns are: I, it, he, she, mine, his, hers, we, they, theirs, and ours. Types of pronouns
Examples of personal pronouns and sample sentences:

3. Adjective: It is used to describe a noun or a pronoun. Adjectives can specify the quality, the size, and the number of nouns or pronouns. An adjective in English usually goes before the noun. Types of adjectives

4. Verb: This is the most important part of a speech, for without a verb, a sentence would not exist. Simply put, this is a word that shows an action (physical or mental) or state of being of the subject in a sentence.
Examples of verbs and sample sentences:
We walk to school every afternoon.
My parents love me so much.
The dog understands everything I say.
5. Adverb: Just like adjectives, adverbs are also used to describe words, but the difference is that adverbs describe adjectives, verbs, or another adverb. Different types of adverbs
Examples of adverbs and sample sentences:

It is too hot today.

6. Preposition: This part of a speech basically refers to words that show the relationship between a noun and a pronoun and also expressing a relation to another word or element in the clause. Prepositions show place, position, time or method. Types of prepositions.

7. Conjunctions: Also called connectors, is a part of speech which joins words, phrases, or clauses together giving complexity to an idea. Conjunctions allow you to form complex, elegant sentences and avoid the choppy sentences. There are two main kinds of conjunctions; Subordinating and Coordinating.

Since interjections are basically used to convey or express strong emotions or sudden bursts of feelings, they are usually followed by an exclamation point. They are commonly used in informal language than in formal writing or speech. They can express a wide variety of emotions such as: excitement, joy, surprise, or disgust.
